Invited to Soundedit Festival in Poland

A short story from last weekend! I was invited to an International Producer Conference in Lodz, Poland! My studio partner held a workshop and answered technical and musical producer questions about his work with The Strokes and Regina Spektor, amongst others. I was surrounded by many famous musicians and producers and had the chance to talk to them. Some notable names include Peter Hook (of Joy Division / New Order), Mad Professor (producer for Lee Perry / Massive Attack) and Marek Walaszek (held a workshop on Wu Tang Clan mixing secrets).

Over dinner Chris Nagle (recording engineer for Joy Division / ESG / A Certain Ratio) told me about some of the groundbreaking techniques he applied together with producer Martin Hannett in the late 70's and early 80's to invent a new sound that would become famous as new wave. What they were doing was so forward-thinking at the time: using heaps of analog gear (back then, what else?) in most unconventional ways!

Gordon was especially happy to meet a big idol of his, Robin Guthrie (Cocteau Twins). And this is the three of us posing here:

Meeting so many creative masterminds has really broadened my horizon and I can't wait for Soundedit 2011!
